Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for writing to us on HCM.
I can understand your concern regarding the skin condition and I will try my level best make sure it is resolved in rightful manner.
From your description and history it seems you have got contact irritant dermatitis, a local form of irritation caused due to use of medications or cosmetics etc.
Let me explain you how all this happened. Initially you were using Betnovet cream which contains steroid. Regular use of this cream causes thinning of skin and thus redness. Now for which you consulted PGI and they prescribed you retinoids( Adapalene etc). In my opinion retinoids use was a mistake. Retinoids are highly notorious to cause irritation and as you were already having sensitive skin due to over use of steroid, use of retionid on top of it was bound to evoke irritant dermatitis.
Anyways nothing to worry as you will be fine soon.
As of now completely stop using retinoid and betnovate cream.
Avoid use of any cosmetics/talcum powder/harsh soap/facewash on your face..
I would suggest you a short course (7-10 days) of oral prednisolone to resolve the inflammation.
Apply a good quality moisturiser like Cetaphil DAM twice a day for 7-10 days.
Use water-based sunscreen like Suncote sunscreen gel over a layer of moisturiser every time you go out in sun.
Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil cleansing lotion for sensitive skin for regular rinsing of face and XXXXXXX dry the face after every wash.
Avoid scratching/peeling/picking of affected areas to avoid infection.
Take oral antihistaminics for itching if any.
I am sure if rightly followed as advised you will be fine in a week.
Let me know if I can be of any more assistance and kindly rate and review the answer before closing it.
Thank you and take care
