What Causes Severe Coughing After Quitting Smoking?
Brief Answer:
Get the sputum checked for AFB and chest Xray done
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query.
It doesn't seem to be secondary to quitting smoking. Even smoking causes cough called smoker's cough.
If you are bringing out sputum get it checked for TB (AFB) as this is persisting for a month.
If it is negative for TB and yellow in colour, then you need some antibiotic like combination of cefixime and azithromycin.
If your cough is dry irritating type, try antihistaminic like cetrizine and as needed inhaled bronchodilator like levosalbutsmol beclomethasone combination. Your treating doctor will know about these drugs.
Hopefully you'll get relieved of your cough.
Best wishes.
