What Causes Severe Pain And Pressure In The Head And Chest Tightness?

Question: I've been having headaches and if feels like a great pressure, coming from my chest/neck area and rising up. I almost feel as if I'm being strangled and the pressure is building up in my head. This has happened twice, once in my sleep and I was dreaming that there was something tight around my neck. I can breathe fine, but the pressure and pain in my head is getting worse. My chest also hurts some. I am 46 years old, female, 100 lbs, history of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. Any thoughts? Thank you so much!

Hello Maam

After going through the medical details provided by you i would like to tell you that all the symptoms which you are experiencing are very explained by the fact that you have fibromyalgia and R Arthritis.

However considering your age group and as you are experiencing chest tightness i would like to advise you to get an ECG done to make sure this chest discomfort is not because of any cardiac issue.

Following things are advisable to relieve symptoms of fibromyalgia

1. Analgesics like tramadol
2. Antianxiety meds
3. Behaviour therapy
4. Skeletal muscle relaxants
