What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Back?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Nov 2016
Question: I hope so. Almost two years ago now I was trampled by one of our horses and broke my back in two places: T-2 and T-11. I'm sure it's healed by now, but I am a court reporter, and after sitting in court for an hour or two without being able to get up and move around, I am in tremendous pain in my upper back. Is there a pain med other than NSAID or Tylenol that I can take which will allow me to still be alert and sharp while working?

Brief Answer:
You can use a NSAID and protect the stomach

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

I'm sure too that you will be healed by now. You must know that you will have this tendency of having back pains.
Physical therapy will be something helpful, if you can access it in your country. It will strengthen your muscles and decrease the tendency for back pain.
Also you can use patches or pain killers or creams and massage around the point of pain.

You can also use a NSAID, starting from Ibuprofen which is the less hurtful for the stomach, by accompanying it with a PPI which will protect the stomach. I can recommend Omerpalrazole 20 mg once/day before food, usually in the morning.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions.
