What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Pain And Pressure In The Chest?
Question: Hello doctors,
Just curious if this is normally caused by stress or if it's something actually cardiac....
Throughout the evening, I've had these very short (about one second long) waves of shortness of breath but it doesn't cause me to gasp for air or anything, nor does it create a really painful feeling. It's happened before but not throughout the day like this, where it will be a pressure/shortness of breath on the left side/center of my chest and then will dissipate after a second or two. I've been to an urgent care a few times, as well as a cardiologist, to see if anything cardiac is going on and the ekgs and stress tests all came back normal (the cardio doc did note slight thickness in the heart that could be remedied with weight loss).
Considering I'm not having to hold/clench my chest at all but just rather this random sensation, I don't know if an er visit would be necessary, considering that every time in the past, it's been attributed to gastric issues. Plus I'm waiting for my insurance to approve, so as of this second, I don't have any.
Please help.

Brief Answer:
Doesn't look like a cardiac issue
Detailed Answer:
Hello
After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that as all your important cardiac tests came our to be normal specially the stress test and also the way you are pointing at your chest it doesn't look like a cardiac issue.
It can be due to some muscle soreness or some muscle tenderness. However most importantly I would like to suggest you that If you smoke please stop it right away completely.
If it's not bothersome to you just try to forget about it as the more you consider it the more significant it will become.
I hope this information will relieve your worries.
Kind regards

Thank you doctor. I do not smoke or drink actually. I went to an urgent care tonight and had an ekg and she said it was normal, minus the heightened anxiety that was showing up on the test .

Hello Again
Detailed Answer:
Yes even stress and anxiety and also precipitate these kind of symptoms. So don't worry just relax and apply some muscle relaxant ointment for pain relief.
Hope to have been helpful.

Will do doctor. If i may ask about something else, it would be greatly appreciated.
Ive recently been told that i have two inguinal hernias (one on each side). Ive been having bouts of nausea, sometimes accompanied by lightheadedness (not vertigo, but rather a pressure sometimes on the top but mostly in the front-top of my face). I'll take Flonase and it seems to relieve the lightheaded sensation (not immediately) so I think it's sinus/allergy related.
I'm curious if a lightheadedness caused by allergy/sinus issues can also cause nausea?
I mentioned the hernias because I've been having gastric issues for so long, I don't know if this nausea is being caused by sinuses or something gastric (that doctors can't find).

Hello Again
Detailed Answer:
Yes your lightheadedness could be due to sinus infection but nausea is not caused by it.
Nausea could probably be due to your gastric problem. You can try taking some proton pump inhibitors (like Pantoprazole) for a period of one week empty stomach in the morning.
Kind Regards
