I do understand your concern and apprehension about snoring.
Recent onset of snoring is likely to be due to follow causes
1. Lack of inadequate sleep or disturbed sleep
2. Physical /Mental exertion during day
3. Mental stress
4. Sleeping immediately after heavy meals
5. Lack of exercise and physical activity
6. Consumption of alcohol/carbonated/caffeine beverages.
I would suggest you the following simple remedy which will be helpful
1. When your are snoring ask your partner to wake you up momentarily (your wife if you are married). This will make you aware of the habit and break the chain of snoring.
2. Avoid sleeping immediately after heavy meals.
3. Sleep in lateral position either left or right. Avoid sleeping on tummy or back.
4. Avoid alcohol/caffeine
5. Warm saline gargling : To a glass of lukewarm water add 2 spoon of salt. Gargle throat with it thrice a day. The third time just before going to sleep.
6. Steam inhalation: 15 to 20 minutes of steam inhalation just before retiring to bed will be beneficial. It will help maintain potency of airways.
