What Causes Sudden Onset Of Dizziness And Hot Flashes?
Many causes that should be evaluated
Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon and thank you for your question.
The sense of flushing in the head and face and feelings of hotness/redness of the ears can be seen in a number of disorders which should be evaluated if these events are brand new or haven't gone away in a brief amount of time. Some of the more common and benign causes of flushing include:
1. Emotional stress or sudden changes
2. Effects of Medications and most commonly alcohol
3. Overheating and heavy physical exertion
One of the more common causes of flushing episodes and feelings of heat in the head, neck, and ears associated with tumors which need to be identified, localized, and dealt with is an entity called the CARCINOID TUMOR or CARCINOID SYNDROME. Special laboratory tests are necessary to make this call and then, depending upon the patterns and characteristics of the flushing occurring often time the tumor can be localized and then, addressed. Carcinoid syndrome is rare indeed but it is one of the more important causes of flushing that needs to be ruled out if present.
Average age of onset for patients with carcinoid syndrome is about age 50 therefore, you should get examined by a physician and not just letting it go unless it goes away quickly.
