Question: I forgot to put in the last question that I do drink at least a gallon of water every day. I also feel hot at times throughout the day and I will wake up during the night feeling sweaty. I do not understand especially because I am drinking so much water. I am going through counseling right now for stress/anxiety right now also
Brief Answer:
Exclude diabetes, evaluate for stress and anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
Drinking so much water generally comes with excess loss of water. This could be due to excessive urine output or sweating.
it is imperative for a fasting blood sugar to be done to exclude diabetes. This is generally accompanied with excessive drinking, urinating and increased appetite. A fasting blood glucose is very important.
Your blood electrolyte profile might also be required. Excessive loss of water could be accompanied with loss of electrolytes that could require replacement.
Stress and anxiety generally do not present as such. Stress could require exercise, sharing with friends, to trusted ones and at times drugs other supervision. Anti depressants could be most useful. Tricyclic anti depressants can be prescribed.
The opinion of your treating care doctor remains critical. Thanks and kind regards.
