What Causes Swelling And Pain In Knee?

Question: I just noticed that the inside of my left knee what hurting. I am sitting watching tv. I pulled my pant leg up to look at it and area inside, below the knee has swelled up about a third the size of a baseball. Have no idea what may have caused that to happen.

Such symptom can be caused by veins thrombosis. This is more possible if you have compressed vein in this location for long time or have varicose veins.
Typical symptom of veins thrombosis is swollen, hard and painful calf. Please try to palpate your calf to see if you have such symptom.
Other possible reason of your leg issue is soft tissues infection. Fever should be present with this condition.

I suggest you to consult your doctor. Veins thrombosis can be life threatening condition. Dopplers veins ultrasound should be done.
In case of veins thrombosis, heparine injections are necessary.
If its soft tissues infection, antibiotic treatment should be prescribed.
