Brief Answer:
Arthritis, Old ankle injury

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

It is possible that you have arthritis of the ankle. It could be due to inflammation as in Rheumatoid arthritis or Gout. It could also be due to old ankle injury.

Do get an Xray and MRI done of your ankle to confirm.

Avoid weight bearing on that leg if it hurts, do use crutches or walker to move about. Confine keeping the limb elevated. Get a few blood tests like Compete blood count, ESR, CRP, Rheumatoid factor, Serum Uric acid and if there is swelling of the ankle, the fluid from the ankle can be tested as well.

Instead of Vicodin and Tramadol, do take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days after meals and Tablet Ranitidine 150mg for 5 days before meals.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thank you. I've also just been diagnosed with an ulcer, so, I've been taken off of anti inflammatories. Hence the vicodine. What is Ranitidine?
Thanks
