What Causes Swollen Glands Under Ear?

Question: Swollen under my ear I can not eat anything especially sour. I had mumps as a child. The soreness and swellling extends up to the middle of my ear.

I am sorry for the situation you are going through.

The swollen glands under ear associated with soreness and swelling are suggestive for ear infection. A virus is the most common cause; however, an ENT examination is advised for further evaluations.

Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial co/infection. If you do not notice any improvement after taking the antibiotic, then, I advise to:
- get a further consultation with ENT specialist to re-evaluate your case
- you might need to change antibiotic (most probably the first one was not effective)
- local ear drops might be also needed to take
