What Causes Swollen Lymph Node?

Question: My daughter had strep a month ago and is still very pale and has had blood work done with normal result but the Lymph nodes in her neck have not went down and she now has a new one growing in size on behind her ear. where should i go from here.
Brief Answer:
Cervical lymphadenopathy
Detailed Answer:
Hi....this lymph node swelling us common when there is an infection. Any infection, especially the upper respiratory one, will cause the lymph nodes to swell up. They gradually settle down in due course.
Moreover size is important, as we clinicians are taught to differentiate whether it is significant or not. Here it should be more than 1cm x 1 cm.
The red flags include, weight loss, loss of appetite, severe pallor which can be easily picked up by lab tests, abnormal pains or bone pains, abdominal distension etc. If these are not there, youneed not worry.
