Brief Answer:
Aggravation of lesion due to steroids.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

Hand foot and mouth disease caused by cocksackie virus results in painful blisters in the throat, and on the tongue, gums, hard palate, or inside the cheeks. In few cases there is associated swelling of tongue. It is seen normally in the course of diseases. It will resolve indays to a week for complete recovery. Steroids instead of benefit cause progression of diseases due to suppression of immune system. It needs to be stopped gradually. Visit a otolaryngologist for examination and to observe allergic reaction if any. Treatment will be done accordingly. Practice hand washing and apply mucogel for oral application.

Take care.
