My son was born with cleft lip and palate. He recently had an expansion appliance installed which widened his upper jaw. He is prone to nose bleeds. He just had one that we had difficulty stopping, and it appears the cleft opening in his hard palate has now opened, causing blood to go into his mouth. How can we stop a nose bleed like this the next time it occurs?
pinch the nose tightly for few minutes , so that the child breaths with his mouth. if controlled u can leave , if not keep pinching and use nasivion nasal drops (2 drops in each nostril ). Botroclot drops also can help. if it's severe , child needs nasal package to be done by ent surgeon .
