Question: Hi,

I have just started taking doxycycline for epidydimtiis along with oflloxacin.

The thing is i dont have a painful left testicle. The doctor said i had swollen vains in my left side or swollen tubes. All std swabs and urine tests came back negative, 3 times at the gum clinic. They said i could go back to having sex with my wife unprotected. She hasnt been checked yet and says that she shouldnt have to be.
My symptoms where a grey watery discharge no pain passing urine and no itch.
I have had an std before about 14 years ago, this doesnt feel like one.

The gum clinic initialy said that my wife should be treated as a precaution but she wont go.

I dont know what to do now.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
First,if there is no proven std at your wife then she shouldnt be treated with antibiotics. If you have proven std then your wife should have std too and in case of positive results, she should start antibiotics course. If there is epididimitis then it should be confirmed with ultrasound and urine analysis. In this case you can have unprotected sex since this is not infectious. Wish you good health, feel free to ask. Hi,

My ultrasound only found a lot of varicous vains around my left testicle. The doctor seemed to think that it was a bacterial infection as my std swabs and urine tests where negative. 3 swabs and 3 urine tests negative. The doctor also mentioned my prostate. I am very worried at the moment.

hi

Detailed Answer:
Well, you dont have to be worried if varicose veins are the only finding. You should do protate ultrasound and psa more to rule out prostatitis but this will be covered with this antibiotic too. Epididimitis will subside within several days after antibiotic is started.if symptoms persist, you should do more specific std testing.

I masterbated today well about 5 hours ago. I have been on ofloxacin for 2 weeks, cypro and doxy for a week each and i have a week to go. Today i have been really stressed and urinated a lot and feel very anxious about my condition. Also i have just noticed a small white stain in my pants, could this be from the seaman when i masterbated. I am at my wits end.

Detailed Answer:
Yes it could be semen which is excreted even for several hours after ejaculation. Pus discharge would leak constantly and it would be painful. So you should stop to worry and finish antibiotic course and see will it be better. I suggest not to masturbate till antibiotics are finished

Thank you.

I have also got some sort of fungal infection on my skin. Given daktarin for it. Since i started using it i have a slight tingling in my fingers. This is not the affected area though its on my upper right leg. A small red ring, no itch or pain.

hi

Detailed Answer:
I dont think that tingling is side effect of this drug,it is more likely caused by fungal infection. if daktarin dont help, you should try with nisatin. If nothing helps, you should see dermatologist since this could be dermatologic disease.

I am on a combination of cyprofloxacin and doxycyclin. I feel quite light headed at times and sometimes get warm flushes. Is this normal?

hi

Detailed Answer:
Yes,especially for doxicycline.it may also cause nausea, diarrheas and other digestion problems so it is always recommendable not to take these antibiotics for more than 10 days.
