Question: Hi im 27 yrs old and married..i always get a superficial tear on my perineum after having sexual intercourse with my husband and it usually heals within 2 to 3 days and doesnt cause me great discomfort at all. Six days ago we had intercourse and again i sustained a wound on my perineum, two days after that my period came so i put on a sanitary napkin. Two days after with my period still on, i noticed that my wound still hasnt healed and causing me pain when urine passes it and causing me discomfort when i'm walking (im working a 12-hr shift in a medical surgical ward as a nurse). I decided to apply mebo ointment on my wound that night before going to bed. I applied 3mm thick of the ointment on the part of my perineum with wound and put on a clean sanitary napkin. The following morning i was shocked when i saw 3 sores (like mouth sores) appeared on my labia majora. It is exteremely painful when urine passes through it. The wound on my perineum appears raw and swollen and its also making it hard to pass stool. On the next day i checked and i saw that more sores came out so i went to an obgyn imediately to have it checked. She examined me and said that it looks like herpetic sores. I was surprised because it only started with a wound on my perinuem and how could i suddenly have herpes. My husband and i both swear that we didnt have any contact with other person. The obgyn ordered a blood test for diagnosing herpes and im still awating the results. Im really puzzled and worrying too much. I hope that you can help me understand whats happening to my body. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Well it sounds like there is some infectious skin disease but other possible causes such as skin irritation, allergy or dermatitis cant be ruled out for sure. Thats why further testing is needed. consdiering your description herpes is the first thing to think of but some other stds may manifest similary. there is also possiblity that primary lesion was perineal tear and then microbe entered skin and caused further lesions.
However, if herpes is confirmed then some of you 2 or both have it and it is transmissed by sexually intercourse except in some very rare cases. it could have been transmissed at any time in your or his history, and this could be just another exacerbation of herpes. so your husband should have test too. it is not serious disease, it can be terated and it wont leave any consequances.
Wish you good health. Regards
