What Causes White Discharge From Corners Of The Eyes?
It can be chronic conjunctivitis or dacryocystitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.
I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
It seems from the history that you are having white sticky discharge from the eyes more so in the mornings.
The discharge from the eye indicates involvement of either conjunctiva or lacrimal sac.
The involvement of conjunctiva is more common and it is in the form of conjunctivitis.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops. Since you have used antibiotic eye drops and the infection has come back again it indicates chronic conjunctivitis.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops for 3-4 weeks till the infection gets eliminated.
The other condition that needs to be considered if the condition does not respond to treatment by antibiotics is involvement of lacrimal sac in the form of inflammation called as chronic dacryocystitis.
This can be confirmed by a simple office test, lacrimal syringing. If present chronic dacryocystitis can cause recurrent inflammation of conjunctiva.
Hence as of now do continue the antibiotic eye drops as prescribed by your eye doctor.
If the condition does not resolve you need to consult your eye doctor to rule out chronic dacryocystitis.
If possible do send the name of the antibiotic eye drop and report of eye swab.
Hope the information is helpful to you.
Thank you.
With regards.
