What Causes White Fluid-filled Bulge In Eye Lid?
Suggestive of Chalazion (Meibomian cyst).
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Good evening.
I can understand your concern.
After having gone through the history given in your query, the white fluid filled bulge in your eye lid seems to due to infection of Meibomian cyst or also referred to as Chalazion. It is a small fluid-filled swelling in the eyelid. It is more common on the upper eyelid and can affect both eyes.
It is most commonly treated with pain killers, antibiotic eye drops or ointment or oral antibiotic like Novaclox.
If it does not subside with the above medications, it has to be incised under local anesthesia. It is a minor procedure in which a small cut is made on the inside of the eyelid to release the contents of the cyst.
Since you have already started taking antibiotic and eye ointment, the following measures would be useful in reducing the swelling:
1. Hot compresses-hold a clean flannel that has been in hot water gently but firmly against the closed eye. Do this for 5-10 minutes, 3-4 times a day. Sometimes this warmth and slight pressure is enough to soften the contents of the fluid-filled swelling, helping it drain more easily. (The water should be hot, but comfortable and not scalding.)
2. Cleaning the eyelid twice per day removes grease and grime that may contribute to cysts forming.
Hope the suggestions given above could be of great help in getting rid of Chalazion.
Best regards.
