What Causes White Pimples In Vagina?

Question: I have little white pimples like things on my vag (inner lips) and along the corners of my mouth now. They are just a bunch of tiny white things. They don't itch or burn or hurt.

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.

I would like to keep a possibility of fordyce spots. However, I would be able to confirm the diagnosis once I have a look at them. Can you upload a photograph for a confirmatory diagnosis?

Fordyce spots are actually ectopic (present where they are not supposed to be present) sebaceous glands. They are usually present in clusters on labial/oral mucosa in both sexes, labia in females, as well as on the mucosal aspect of prepuce in males.

Fordyce spots can become more prominent at puberty under the influence of testosterone.

They are mainly of cosmetic concern without any clinical significance and may be left alone if not very visible.

Treatment is either CO2 Laser vaporisation or destruction with radiofrequency cautery. A dermatologist usually performs these procedures.

Oral retinoids are also helpful,because they shrink the size of sebaceous glands, thus making them less noticeable.

So they cant be anything else? How come i have them on my vag and my mouth? Is that common? Also, how do i get rid of them?

The labial lesions are definitely Fordyce spots. Though, I have'nt looked at the ones on labia. However you describe them to be the same as those on lips/labial mucosa.

Yes, it is not uncommon to have them on lips as well as labia. Fordyce spots as I have mentioned before are ectopic sebaceous glands. They can be commonly found in many individuals. In some individuals they are more prominent and thus noticeable than others. The sites where they can be often found are on lips, undersurface of prepuce in males and labia in females.

I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a dermatologist. I usually remove them with a CO2 Laser vaporisation.

They can be left alone if not much noticeable

Does laser removal leave scars normally? I wouldnt want that on my mouth if it does. Also, the ones on my labia are the exact same there are just alot more it seems.
