Jaundice
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I am sorry to hear about your friend.
It seems he has developed jaundice and most common causes of jaundice causing liver derangement's are Alcohol, Viral hepatitis, Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, Drugs,Obstructive jaundice.
In case he doesn't consume any alcohol, so alcohol induced hepatitis is ruled out.
Your doctor's would investigate him and following tests are recommended:
1. HBsAg for Hepatitis B.
2. Anti HCV Antibody for Hepatitis C.
3. Ultrasound Abdomen.
4. Liver function tests
5. Anti HAV and HEV Antibody.
Treatment would be mostly dextrose containing fluids, lactulose to avoid constipation and to treat bleeding due to coagulopathy if any.
I would be in a better state to discuss the prognosis if you could share his reports with me.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
I wish him a speedy recovery.

He needs admission.
