What Do My X-ray Test Results Indicate?

Question: I am in the process of being diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis, possibly rheumatoid arthritis. A second rheumatologist I saw ordered x-rays of the hip, si joints and pelvis. I already knew from a cat scan that I have "a sclerotic area in the left iliac wing, benign". Now the new x-rays state I have an "8.4 calcific density overlying the right lower quadrant of the abdomen'. Could this indicate cancer? The doctor ordered an mri of the pelvis without contrast to "look at my bones in the pelvic region". The x-ray of the pelvic area, hips, also states "mild acetabular osteophytosis" What are your thoughts on both of these areas showing up in films, in addition to the hip region. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
It could be tumor or tumor like lesions
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the query.
Yes, it is possible it could be a tumor but it could also be tumor like lesions which have been calcified.
You need to get a thorough evaluation by an Oncologist to rule out the same.
Iliac bone tumors can usually invade the surrounding muscles and soft tissue and cause similar appearances as quoted. Maybe a lower GI scope will be able to rule out intestinal lesions as well, by a competent Gastroenterologist.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
