What Does A Cyst In The Thyroid Gland Suggest?
Question: Hi
I am being treated for hypothyroidism and have been using Armour for about 8 years. In November I noticed my hair was falling out more so than usual and my energy was very low. My depression seems to be getting worse. In that time a cyst was discovered on my right ovary. I had an ablasion, my right ovary removed and the tube to my left ovary because it had become impassable. It got better for about 2 weeks and then the depression became worse and so did the tiredness. I guessed this to be post surgery. It continued so I had my thyroid checked. My TSH was dead on, my T4 on the low side and my T3 was 200. My doctor changed me to levothyroxine and another I cannot remember at the moment. (P.S. my memory and concentration is gone) I was retested 6 weeks later and am slightly hyperthyroid now. I got sent for a ultrasound and a small cyst was found. Weight gain has been horrible, too. Any thought or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Thyroid
Detailed Answer:
Sorry to note your symptoms
1 The cyst in the thyroid gland on ultrasound is not at all worrisome.
2 Armor is not deemed safe for the treatment of hypothyroidism. The latest thyroid guidelines have reinforced the fact that levo thyroxine alone suffices.
3 Aim for a TSH of 0.4 to 2.4 with free T4 at the higher end of normal.
4 Do you know if your Thyroid antibodies were ever tested?
