Hi,

Eltroxin (levothyroxine sodium) is a medication commonly used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones. Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain, among other symptoms.

Taking Eltroxin helps to increase the levels of thyroid hormones in the body, which can lead to an improvement in symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and hair loss. However, the medication alone is not a weight loss treatment. While some people may experience weight loss after starting Eltroxin, this is usually due to the correction of an underlying thyroid issue and not a direct effect of the medication.

It is important to note that the dosage of Eltroxin is based on the individual's thyroid hormone levels and can vary from person to person. In some cases, additional medications such as T3 may be necessary for optimal treatment of hypothyroidism. Your doctor can help determine the appropriate dosage and medication for your specific needs.

Additionally, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen in order to support weight loss efforts. Your doctor or a registered dietitian can help you create a nutrition plan that is appropriate for your individual needs and goals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
