What Does An Abdominal Ultrasound Indicate?
Question: My wife was just told an ultrasound on her liver revealed some changes. Since this is the first ultrasound it sounds like polite talk for it's too early to know.
She has low Potassium levels, upper stomach indigestion and I believe a high white blood cell count (it's either high or low but I believe its high). They will be scheduling an MRI, which suggests to me something like a tumor.
Also, she has a "carcinoid" that was detected in an early endoscopy or colonoscopy.
Can you help?

Hi,
I have gone through your question carefully and understood your concerns.
Can you please provide the ultrasound report? So I can analyze it myself and help you more specifically?
You can also send other tests reports for further evaluation.

It may take a few days. Can you outline some of the possibilities? Im not looking for a full proof diagnosis right now. Just some general info on wjat an ultrasound could or couldnt reveal. To me it is clear to state some changes were seen when no previous ultrasound was taken is alarming. Also can you tell me what would an MRI could reveal the ultrasound might not, beyond greater detail.
Brief Answer:
Various changes in liver structure as follows
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Generally speaking, an abdominal ultrasound would report :
- lesions including tumoral mass
- fatty structure or changes in liver structure
MRI would give helpful information determining the nature of such findings and further management strategies.
All the best!
