Question: I’m don’t understand what an oral fluid test for adderall is and i’ve found all sorts of answers online. Is so my dr knows that I’m taking the adderall which he prescribed me or to tell how much of the adderall i’ve been taking. Sometimes I forget to take it but that’s pretty rare.

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing in to us. Various studies have shown that adderall (amphetamines/ methamphetamines) remain in the saliva in sufficient quantities for detection for up to 50 hours. So your doctor can know if you have been taking adderall for upto 3 days before you take the test. There is a particular cut off beyond which the level of adderall in saliva will show up in the testing. The levels are in ng/ mL. Your doctor will not be able to exactly tell the how much of adderall you have been taking but it will be an average of the adderall taken in last 50 hours. The test confirmatory levels may differ with different labs so it must be interpreted in detail. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Regards, Dr.Vivek
