What Does Black Stool When On Pradaxa Indicate?
Question: Hi. My husband is recovering from kneecap surgery. He is a controlled diabetic and heart patient , 86 years old. He has recently tested for borderline anemia. He takes many meds for thyroid and, heart, including predaxa. His entire stool was black today. This has happened before, a couple of years ago on predaxa. He temporarily stopped predaxa and his stool returned to normal color. He lost 30 pounds during kneecap surgery and recovery. He has not had a recent colonoscopy (ten years ago)? He has a GP appointment for this evening.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have read your query.
black stools indicate internal bleeding.
yes this can be due to your predaxa medicine.
so hold the predaxa till you consult your doctor.
You may need blood investigation to know haemoglobin level.
Till time take food rich in iron.
do not worry about weight loss.
Diabetic and heart patients will recover early if weight is less.
