What Does Bleeding At The Site Of Insulin Shot Using A Flexpen Indicate?
Need to reduce the dose.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting your query.
Flexpen is a delivery system of Insulin which is intended to delivery insulin subcutaneously, that is under the skin.
When given under the skin, the action is insulin is delayed in onset and prolonged.
If your injection site bleeds then the insulin is going straight into the blood which results in faster onset of action and short lived action of insulin. This may result in sudden drop in blood sugars followed by abnormal elevation in blood sugars after few hours.
You need to actually reduce the dose of Insulin as of now but you need to consult a physician to get evaluated for the bleeding and get it corrected.
Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.
Regards.
