What Does High Protein, Creatinine And Microalbuminuria Levels Indicate?
Question: I took a life insurance exam during my menstrual cycle and I had high protein, creatinine and microalbuminuria levels. I am not diabetic and I had no glucose in my urine. Would my menstrual cycle cause these results?
Brief Answer:
Not related to periods
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam thanks for trusting health care magic.
Your finding are suggestive of early stage of kidney disease.
These are unrelated to menstrual cycle and are usually associated with some chronic inflammation of kidney.
In my opinion get an abdominal ultrasound done with special attention to kidneys.
Most probably its a mild disease but definitely don't take it lightly.
Take care and all the best.

I forgot to mention these tests were done from a urine sample. So the blood from my menstruation would not cause false results?
Brief Answer:
Menstruation cannot give high creatinine results
Detailed Answer:
Yes don't worry, microalbuminuria means albumin in urine in minute amount.
Menstrual blood can't give high creatinine at all.
Contamination with menstrual blood leads to RBCs in sample and protein at times but never creatinine.
Just get an ultrasound done and in case normal get the urine analysis repeated after 1 month.
Take care
