What Does Muscle Twitching After A Photoderm Procedure Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: Hi I received a photoderm ipl by a board certified dermatologist and ever since the procedure I have had muscle twitching under my right eye when I smile. It's not the lid it's the skin underneath. I have also had pain in that area. Can ipl damage nerves? Can ipl damage the dermis or the subcutaneous fat? I did not have any pain during the procedure and the redness went away by the next day.

Brief Answer:
Twitching

Detailed Answer:
My Dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This treatment is supposed to be reasonably safe and usually does not cause a problem like this. There are two aspects one is that this twitching is as a result of the treatment and two this is independent of the treatment and it was merely a coincidence that this occured after your tt.
What you should do is wait for a while to see how things develop and as a suppotive tt have B complex vitamins during this period to help recover if there has been a damage to the local nerves.
If the problem does not resolve in a reasonable period of time approximately 4to6weeks XXXXXXX then second option is to consult a neurologist and have his opinion.
please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
