Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I had asked awhile back about all the radiation I was exposed to. I had a ct scan of chest with contrast. 1 ct of neck and abdomen with contrast and 1 ct of abdomen w/o contrast 4 chest xrays and a nuclear stress test all done within a month. Now I have sudden appearance of new moles/ freckles all over they are black in color and small. Can this be cancer from radiation or a side effect of so much?

Brief Answer:
It is not due to cancer from radiation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

As we discussed earlier, generally radiation due to CT scan is not expected to cause sudden appearance of moles/freckles.However,it may cause such pigmentation in genetic susceptible persons.
Moles/freckles may also appear due to some other reasons like sun/U.V exposure.
It need assessment by a dermatologist. You may need cream like retinoids application. You should consult a dermatologist.

Definitely,it is not due to cancer from radiation.
