I have attached the report.
Brief Answer:
Gestational Diabetes.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, blood sugar level of 225 two hours after 75gram glucose confirm diagnosis of gestational Diabetes in your wife.
In such cases I may suggest -
- Diabetic diet :
Avoid all forms of sugar.
Have frequent small amount of meals.
Better to consult near by dietician who can plan diet for her considering her pre-pregnancy weight, your food habits.
- Exercise & weight control
Daily 30 to 45 min of walk may be advisable.
Weight loss in pregnancy is not advisable.
Avoid vigorous, heavy exercise in pregnancy.
- Blood sugar monitoring :
Monitor blood sugar level with home glucometer as follows
Fasting
2 hours after breakfast
Before lunch
2 hours after lunch.
Before dinner
2 hours after dinner
At least 2 to 3 readings of the above per day.
Depending upon weekly chart need for medications to control blood sugar can be decided.
There are only selective medications which can be used in pregnancy to control blood sugar levels.
It will be better to consult diabetologist or endocrinologist as detailed history taking & physical examination & frequent follow up are important.
Prolonged uncontrolled blood sugar levels in mother may affect baby's growth & development in utero.
Hope this helps.
