What Does My Colonoscopy Report Indicate?
Question: Six yrs ago I had a colonoscopy with a pediatric scope as I have a torturous colon and a very long one, Dr. said. He said he found a polop but didn't take it out since he couldn't find it on way out. Upon awaking from procedure I had intense pain on right side and felt my side would burst. A nurse and friend had to massage my side with warm compresses to get the air out. For 3 days after I had bout of diarrehea that just came on suddenly as if trapped in my torturous colon. Now a FIT test was positive and I am terrified of a colonoscopy. I've asked Dr to do another test, like Cologuard, but my insurance won't cover it. I experience bloating and pain on right side (this has been going on for years -- over 10). Can an MRI show if anything is going on???
Brief Answer:
can consider ct colonography
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
An MRI can show the bowel and would also show the surrounding organs but if you specifically wish to look inside of the bowel itself, there is another option called CT colonography
I am not sure if this is covered by your insurance carrier.
It is a procedure that allows the doctor to take a virtual look inside the colon without endoscopy.
It is not as optimal as the endoscopy which can remove any suspicious areas at the same time but it can identify changes for you.
You can speak to your doctor or insurance provider to see if this is an option for you
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
