Question: Hi I got a HSG done and the results are as follows:

The uterus is normal in size, shape and position,
both the tubes are visualised throughout their extents. Their fimbrial ends appear mildly ectatic.

Minimal peritoneal spillage of contrast is noted bilaterally.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT IS?

Brief Answer:
Report explained to you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I will explain the HSG report to you.
Basically, an HSG is a XXXXXXX test to check if both your fallopian tubes ( that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus ) are open or not.
One end of the tube opens into the uterus, and the other end opens into the peritoneal cavity where the eggs are released by the ovaries.
In your case, the ends near the ovaries are mildly swollen.
Hence, the XXXXXXX is passing through the tubes, but not freely.
That means that the tubes are open, but under pressure, there is no free flowing spill of XXXXXXX which is normally seen.
This might be interfering with fertility.
Can you tell me what investigations, reports and treatments have been done so far, so that I can guide you further ?
Also, you are 36, so now intensive treatment is needed for fertility.
Since how long are you trying to conceive ?
What is your height and weight ?
Please write back with all these details, so that I can guide you further.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.

Thank you for the update XXXXXXX
Actually, apart from the 3 attachments on the HSG report, I am unable to see anything else.
Please contact the customer care team and upload the details, or you can alternatively email them to - YYYY@YYYY with the sugject heading - ATTENTION DR. XXXXXXX and they will be forwarded to me.
As I understand, you have already had 3 unsuccessful IUI attempts.
Is the semen analysis normal ?
Did you ovulate well in all 3 cycles ?
The next option for you is to undergo a laparoscopy to see what is the actual problem in the tubes.
ALternatively, you can straightaway consider IVF since 3 IUI cycles have already failed.
Take care.
Looking forward to the reports being uploaded soon.

Hi Semen analysis is normal and yes i did ovulate well in 3 IUI cycles too.

I have uploaded HSG xray, Report and also the blood test report and now I have uploaded my Thyroid report too which is normal.

Dont we have any options other than laproscopy and IVF? treatment through medicines?

Kindly let me know the reason for this issue too.. what might have caused the swelling.

Thanks

Hello XXXXXXX
The tubes maybe swollen due to various reasons.
The commonest reason is that they fill up with water * hydrosalpinx * .
This can be due to infections such as pelvic infections, tuberculosis etc.
There maybe small cysts which lead to such swelling.
Sometimes, there is no apparent reason but the inner lining of the tube is damaged, leading to such structural changes.
The real reason can be determined by a laparoscopy perhaps.
If the semen analysis is normal, then the only real way ahead at 36 years is to have laparoscopy and then proceed to further IUI cycles or IVF straightaway.
In females, as age advances, capacity of the ovaries to produce good eggs also declines, so it is important to do something soon.
Only medications have little role now since everything else has failed , you need to try for something more aggressive.
Take care.
