What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Question: HI, With gods grace i got pregnant with assisted reproductive techniques and i am 14 weeks now.
Yesterday i was supposed to take GTT test in my hospital, 75 Grams sugar GTT Test.
My reading are below:
Fasting: 85, 1 Hour Plasma:153, 2 Hour: 179.
But all the 3 times my Urine test shows sugar NIL.
Do i have diabetes?Gestational diabetes?
My family history didnt have diabetes , Is it very serious concern?
My gyneac asked to meet Diabetologist to get a better food plan.
I have given sugar after 12 Hours of fasting
Please advise i am worried,

Hello,
The test reports are not reliable , as 75 gms glucose is to be given immediately after giving the fasting sample.
The 2 hr sugar level shouldbe less than 1 hr plasma levels , hence it is recommended to repeat the test from a different diagnostic lab.
The first 2 values are normal but 2 hr value is raised, which is not logical.

Hi doctor ,thanks for your reply, 75 GM sugar is given immediately after the fasting blood is drawn
And the 1st hour blood report is less than the 2nd hour ,is it a false reports, is that should be a vice versa?what are the normal values of gtt in pregnancy

The normal values as per IADPSG criteria are fasting= <92, 1hr=< 180mg/dl and 2hr= <153 mg/dl. So the report needs to be revalidated with a repeat test. if the report is correct then considering your 2 he values being high, you would be gestational diabetic.
