What Does My Sugar Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi dr. I am 32 weeks 3 days pregnant and my sugar levels are high. Recently I did 4 point sugar profile test at home and the values came out to be:-
Fasting- 72
1 hr after breakfast- 147
1hr after lunch- 114
1hr after dinner- 137.
My dr. has now advised me to take 2 units of insulin before breakfast as well as before dinner.
Also, she told me that we will try our best to deliver around 38 weeks, but in case of any complexity we might need to deliver around 36-37 weeks. But till now she said everything is normal, except the blood sugar levels which are a little high.
Please advise if delivery around this period is safe or not.

Actually my concern is that why dr. has said we will try to stretch till 38 weeks? I mean why not wait till 40 weeks? Is it because of sugar?
Brief Answer:
Yes. Because of raised blood glucose levels.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
In case of pregnancy induced diabetes, there is every chance of having a larger for age baby- means the baby can be overweight and this can cause a difficulty in delivery and increases the chances of a cesarean delivery.
It is best to try to induce labor pains at 38 weeks where the baby is fully mature and normal delivery will be easier to accomplish.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Brief Answer:
Can travel with caution.
Detailed Answer:
Travelling around this time can cause premature pains. Do take proper rest during the journey and take care of your medicines. Do consult your gynecologist for an examination and proper medicines needed during the travel.
