What Does The Following Pelvic X Ray Result Indicate?
Question: I've just had a pelvic X-ray. Need surgery on left hip. Arthritis. I noticed in lett groin area a dark spot which is not anywhere else. Should I be concerned?
Brief Answer:
I think topical ointment will be fine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns .
In my opinion, no need to worry unless it is painful, increase in mass, doesn't respond to medications for more than a week or so.
You may use topical anti-inflammatory gels (eg. Diclofenac) which will be effective in most of the cases.
If it persists I'd recommend you to visit your physician for a clinical evaluation and management.
You've mentioned arthritis was the main cause of the need for your replacement surgery so I think it is not related to that dark skin mark.
Wish you good health,
Any further clarifications feel free to ask.

Than what is that big dark spot by my left groin area on the X-ray? And yes, that area is painful. The docor, prior to X-ray said, groin pain is indictive of a hip problem. Well X-ray confirmed that. It then I noticed on the exray, a black spot by the groin area. It located in the pelvic region on left. It's circular at the bottom then elongates up
Brief Answer:
I think this dark area may be a kind of mass or inflammation that attack
Detailed Answer:
I think this dark area may be a kind of inflammation or mass that affected your hip joint.
Avascular necrosis is a condition where necrosis or gradual death of the joint and tumors may also show such image on your X-rays. I hope that dark spot is nothing that serious.
Please send me images of your X-rays for proper evaluation. Sometimes it is a negative shadow or something in your pocket. You can simply upload/attach them the reports section of this webpage.

I have attached X-ray photo. Please let me know what you think.
Brief Answer:
That is only fecal remnants or gases in your colon nothing to worry about .that dark image is perfectly normal.
Detailed Answer:
Do not worry i have seen your X rays and that dark spot is definitely fecal remnants or gases in your colon nothing more so i do not want you to be worried it is neither a tumor or something you have to take in your concern .
Your hip joint cartilages have been eroded ( due to rheumatoid arthritis , osteo-porosis due to postmenopausal hormonal variations ) and this makes any movement in your hip joint to cause excessive pain . in your case the ball and socket mechanism is the main cause of your pain . the socket part needs to be replaced to work properly and allow your joint mobility freely without pain.
