What Does The Gastroscopy Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Mar 2015
Question: In March 2014 my gastroscopy report showed I had:
A small sliding hiatus hernia <5cm
Stomach - Mild erythematous - exudative gastritis involving the antrum was found
Duodenum - Mild diffuse erythematous bulbar duodenitis was apparent
CLO test negative

I am now getting very bad chest pains (central top of abdomen, just below breasts), it comes on mainly at night and can last for half an hour or so, I have no gall bladder (it was removed due to a stone). I have charted my meals for a week to check to see if any particular food causes this but there is no pattern. My doctor has listened to my chest and found no weaziness but my breathing is affected, slightly short of breath. I have had a kidney scan and they found a 7mm stone but do not think this is causing the higher up abdomen pain.

Brief Answer:
Ranitidine, antacids, Domperidone, Gastroscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

To recapitulate: Female / 47 taking Lansoprazole for several years - had Gastroscopy in March 2014 - showed small sliding HH < 5 cm - exudative gastritis antrum - duodenits - CLO neg - Now C/O pain in central top abd - at night - lasts upto an hour - no food pattern - - slight short of breath although Doctors says normal auscultation - 7 mm Kidney stone ...

The most probable cause is gastritis with GERD as you have pains at night only.

I would advise in such a patient the following:
First of all try to get the Gastroscopy done.
Continue Lansoprazole and
Start Ranitidine 150 mg 12 hourly too
Antacid Gel 3 TSF three hourly
Domperidone 10 mg at 8 hourly duration (say like 6 am - 2 pm and 10 pm).
Soft bland diet.
Small frequent meals.
Not to go for rest immediately after dinner.

Rest of the treatment as per the report of Gatroscopy.
Please also remember that control of anxiety and / or stress with natural way or with medicines is also equally important as this is directly related to the cause and effects of such problems.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper treatment started and get a relief and proper diagnosis and further management.

Please feel free to ask relevant questions or if you feel that there is a gap-of-communication.
