Question: I have tested my CEA levels and the results show its 5.48 I am having constipation problems for the past 2 months but I dont feel any pain or some 'growth feeling' inside colon or rectum area. I am a regular smoker for decades. Does my CEA levels indicate any cancerous symptoms? My health is good. No weight loss or fevers etc.

Brief answer....your CEA levels are normal and don't suggest that you are having cancer
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query, seen your reports and understood your concern.
You see going by the reference range provided by your lab, your CEA level is just outside the reference range but it would be termed as normal because it is normal to find slightly high CEA level in smokers.
Moreover this CEA test is not meant for diagnosis of any cancer. It is simply used for post operative follow up of patients with colo rectal cancers. It is used for detection of recurrences and monitoring of treatment in people suffering from colo rectal cancers.
There is nothing to worry about it as it is normal and moreover you  are a healthy person without any symptom of weightloss or fever.
Just relax and enzoy.
I hope it helps however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best if luck
Thanks
