Question: How concerned should I be w a Alkaline Phos of 124? My other liver enzyme values are AST 48 and ALT 55. my email is YYYY@YYYY

Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.
Your baseline liver function tests which involves AST and ALT are perfectly normal.
As per the standard text at least 3 times increase in liver enzymes as compared to normal value is significant.This means that mild derangement of LFT has no clinical significance.

As per as alkaline phosphatase is concerned its very unspecific for liver diseases and if other tests are normal mildly deranged AP has no significance.
See you are on a number of drugs.As a matter of fact most of these drugs are metabolised by liver.During metabolism a number of harmful free radicals are produced which harms the cells in liver.

Enzymes are produced by liver cells and are released into blood however due to increased degeneration of these cells many time the amount of enzymes in blood increases.


If you are asymptomatic your liver function have no clinical significance.

Suggestion-
Take a liver rejenuvator like Sylimarin once daily(It reduces the oxidative stress caused by hepatotoxic medicines like statins.)
