What Does This MRI Report Of Knee Indicate?
Mild Chondral thinning in the anterior and central weightbearing portions of the medial meniscus with associated superficial and deep chondral thinnning in the centrail to aneterior mdial tibial palteou with mild superficial and deep chondral fissuring. Then it talks about small marginal ostepophytes, irrengualr attenuation and fraying in the anterior aspect of the medial meniscal body, which is compatible with degnerative teraing. There is a 4 mm of extrusion of the medial meniscal body in this area. There is mild mucinous dengernaration and free edge fraying in the posterior horn of the mdieal menisce as well. Mild edema surrounds the superficial medial colleteral ligment which suggests a grade one sprain. It talks about grade 2 - 4 chondromalacial in the weightbearing medial compartment. Moderate attunation and irregular fraying of the anterior aspect of the medial meniscal body segment, which is compatible with degenerative tearing. There is more.. what is your impression?
Grade one sprain of medial collateral ligament is there.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,
After going through your query and MRI report in detail including attachment, I concluded that you have got grade one sprain (minor) of medial collateral ligament (ligament joining femur and tibia on inner side of knee). There is small joint effusion(fluid/blood collection in joint). This is only finding as far as injury is concerned as MRI was done for injury of nearly 2 weeks back. All other ligaments and structures are normal as far as injury is concerned.Treatment of this is rest , analgesics( you are already taking) and splinting the joint.
However most of MRI report describes degenerative changes in your joint which are not related to injury and are related to aging. You have mild to moderate degenerative changes throughout in the joint.
You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wishing you good health.
Take care.
