Brief Answer:
Could be bleeding from fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
Patient sustained injuries on 16th oct and was admitted to present hospital on 17th with Intertrochanteric fracture hip with type II DM with COPD with old CAD
I have gone through the reports. on 16th the Hb % is 9.9 . on 19th it was 8.0 and finally on 22nd it was 6.4 g% .The first report is at a different place and after that patient was transported to current hospital on 17th oct .Operation was performed on 18th and hemoglobin on 19th was 8.0 .
Between Ist and second report , patient was transported and was operated so this much loss of Blood is expected .
From 8.0 to 6.4 , during post op period , unless there is overt bleeding or hemodilution , 1.6 gm of hemoglobin loss is not explained unless the report is not proper which does occur sometimes.
If the patient is otherwise healthy and has no active bleeding , conscious , cheerful and moving the parts well , I would repeat the hemoglobin .
With CO existing diseases like he has , I would like to assess the reason for drop in hemoglobin levels. But if there is no active bleeding I could discharge the patient with instructions to report immediately in case of any problem.
I hope I have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
