Brief Answer:
Further progress of cirrhosis can be controlled by limiting alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Your ultrasound scan abdomen shows that the liver has developed features of cirrhosis. This is described as a coarse liver with surface nodularity.

2. Cirrhosis is a disease condition of the liver which is influenced by the intake of alcohol over years. The normal liver tissue is slowly replaced by scar tissue and this significantly reduces the normal functioning of the liver.

3. You might have the early features of liver cirrhosis and with treatment and precautions the progress of the disease might be controlled. Your alcohol dependency and cholesterol levels require to be controlled. Complete liver function tests will show the extent of damage to the liver.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
