I am 40 and have been trying to conceive for the first time. It has been 6 months. My doctor told me that the quality of my eggs are great, that of a 28 year old. We have Done 3 sonograms to monitor the follicle. My doctor now suggests I have a HSG. I have been through alot this year as far as my health is concerned, and I do not want to go Through any other invasive tests if they are not absolutely necessary. Mt doctor said he has no reason to believe my tubes are blocked, but recommends it anyway. Is am HSG necessary and are there any similar less invasive options?
Brief Answer:
HSG to check tubal patency
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
HSG is done to assess the patency of the fallopian tubes.
Fallopian tube patency should be checked if one fails to conceive spontaneously in 6 months at your age.
I will suggest you to get the HSG done as it is must for deciding further management.
