What Would Cause Pain In The Lower Back And Buttocks Along With A Throbbing Headache?
Question: Iama 64 year old female in excellent health. day before yesterday, very suddenly, I got a throbbing headache and also achiness in my lower back and buttocks. This has continued unabated all day yesterday and into too day. this pain does not respond to aceteminophen or ibuprofen. I am currently taking hydrocodone with aceteminophen. The pain is still not responding. I am not able to sleep because of the discomfort and last night I threw up and had loose stools. I have never had anything like this before.

You could be suffering from migraine. You can try taking Aleve (naproxen) 500 mg one or two tablets together when required (preferably in full stomach) and I hope that would provide some relief. If it does not, it would be worthwhile to visit the ER to get your BP checked as well as to get a neurological evaluation done (to rule out other neurological causes of the headache).
Proper relaxation is very important.

Thankyou for your response. I have not had migraine before. What about the pain in my back and buttocks? That is very uncomfortable and is not responding to pain relievers.
