Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking Miss XXXX!
I am Dr S Khan and i would like to answer your query for mouth peeling / oral keratosis.
Miss XXXX i want you to know that Without seeing the lesion, it is impossible to give more than a general overview. Here are some likely reasons for these mouth peelings.
1-Smoking is a recognised cause of oral keratoses, formerly included under the heading leukoplakia (white patches).
2- Oral candidal infections like candidiasis and
lichen planus resulting from a poor oral hygiene can also do that.
3-It could be recurrent
aphthous ulcers
4- Oral manifestation of systemic disease like crohn's,
ulcerative colitis, some immunocompromised disease like HIV, some anemias, some
connective tissue diseases etc.
5-It can be due to a drug induced conditions like dry mouth, use of
corticosteroids ,
gingival hyperplasia, aphthous stomatitis etc.
6-Old ages like yours can be associated with oral malignancies like leukoplakia and squamous cell malignancies.
In short you need to seek a Gp or
Dentist for further management as it needs a complete examination and assessment for a better management.
I hope it helps. Take good care and close the discussion please.
May the odds be ever in your favour.
S Khan
