Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic
I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
It seems from the history that you have undergone surgery for retinal detachment and following it you have developed cataract.
Formation of cataract following retinal detachment surgery is a known problem and it occurs because of disruption of the lens metabolism by surgical trauma or by the intraoperative medications used during retinal detachment surgery.
The cataract needs to be removed once the inflammation of the retinal detachment surgery settles and it usually takes 2-3 months. After this period cataract can be safely operated.
However this cataract surgery carries few risks like low postoperative vision because of problems of retinal detachment surgery like macular edema, epiretinal membrane....
Cataract surgery can be done after 2-3 months of retinal detachment surgery.
If the cataract is in initial stages, not interfering with the vision or with examination of retina in the post operative period, you can wait till 6 months no problems will occur.
Hope the information is helpful to you.
Thank you
