Why Do I Have The Urge To Urinate After Urination?
Question: I have been having an uncomfortable feeling when I urinate. When I start to urinate all feels normal, but towards the end I get this strange feeling that I need to go some more, but I can't. This has been going on for a couple of months now, but I haven't seen my doctor about it because I feel fine otherwise and actually forget about it until I have to urinate again. I had quite a few urinary tract infections when I was younger and it doesn't feel like that. It doesn't burn and I have no fever. My kidneys don't ache as with my past infections.
I do have a history of IBS, both bowel and bladder, but never felt like this before.

So even if this feels much different than the infections you have had in younger age, it does not rule urinary tract infection out. Either back ache and fever are not always present with the infection.
Moreover, your infection can be caused by something that was not present before. Diabetes is a common factor of urinary tract infection, especially those lasting for a long time or recurring.
I suggest you to visit your doctor and have some tests done. Abdominal ultrasound, urine analysis and glucose level should be checked. Antibiotic treatment might be necessary.

I didn't think a urinary tract infection could go on for 2 months without being treated. Shouldn't I be feeling worse as time goes by?
Also, since it's been 2 months, can I wait another week to see my doctor? He is out of town all of this week.

Every time you urinate, bacteria which have settled on the wall of urethra or bladder get rinsed out. Not all of course, but most of them. Now after urinating, the bacteria which are left, start to multiply and allow an infection to be present. This can be like that over and over. If you urinate more frequently, bacteria amount is less. If you have long breaks between urinating, more bacteria can multiply.
So in simply words such infection ca stay like that for a long time.
