Will I Recover Completely From Ankle Injury?
Question: Hi , i injured my ankle in a squashing accident at gym ( falling of cross trainer and then my foot was squashed between paddle and the body machine! ). so it had all the symptoms like fracture , went dr , did Xray wasnt any fracture and then 2 days later went to physio got it a severe sprained ankle so i did RICE for the first 2 weeks i was completely bed rest with a little mobility now i m in week 5 , all the symptoms get really really better now i m doing all of my stretching and balancing exercises but i still have swelling and a achy pain just like discomfort sensation in it. when i walked like i used to walk alot like my usual pattern i got swollen ankle and i m afraid i will have it for future !
because now the appearance the front of my foot is not look like other foot and around my ankle and on the front of ankle seems to be firmly swollen not really big but its visible when i compared it to other foot.
what can i do ? when this pain and swelling goes away and i have my normal ankle ?
i m really concerned as i m active person and i dont want to have limited range of motion in my ankle because of bad treatment in future

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it is quite a possibilty that you had a hair line fracture that was not visible on plain x ray . Treatment guidelines are according to the injury .
See regular physiotherapy is definitely going to help this out . Early mobilisation is always recommended .Complete rehabilitation of an ankle sprain may take several weeks to months. Athletic shoes that fit well are better for stabilizing the foot and minimizing slippage.
I think you should under regular physiotherapy by a trained physiotherapist , it is the only option that is going to help you .

thanks for your response. i feel upset about it its not really good to have hairline fracture it means it will heal not really quickly and i wanted to start my sports like surfing or paddle boarding earlier.
well i was under physio sessions for 8 sessions but last week she discharged me as i havent had any acute swelling anymore but today i went out i walked quite abit more than usual and my ankle got swollen i iced it abit elevated it and after around 1 hour the swollen went away. so if it is a good sign ? and i started going to gym and cycling from last week and all of them dont hurt my ankle. i think i just get swollen ankle when i was walking !
i booked another physio session next week. and i will start working which requires me long hour standing on foot from late next week. if its a fracture or a problem is that working hurt it or not ? and what can i do for it if it gets swollen at work ? just iced it after and elevated it ?
and last thing is physio told me that i wont feel any problem in the week 6 of my healing but i m in the middle of week 5 and it still is not normal.
if i need more time for healing it properly do i have to avoid walking or running or other sports like surfing or doesnt need to do special limitation?

There is no universal guidelines for healing times for fractures or sprain , different people take different times to recover from these .
In my opinion you should relax a bit and follow your physios advise because you got a swelling on prolonged standing that means everything is not fine till yet . I think you should wait at least for week 6 to complete healing . Avoid anything that strains your joint till then.
