Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: I suffer lazy bowel syndrome. I drink plenty of water and eat right. I see a specialist and have tried. Lizness and amatra. I have spent a lot of money taking all over the counter items. I have one kidney so can not take certain meds. I would like to clear my body of all meds and get back on track. I have even looked into acupunture. I need to get off this roller coaster and get my body regulated without drugs. Would acupuncture help?

Brief Answer:
It helps as per some studies, you may try it.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

Lazy bowels also called irritable bowels syndrome are very irritating and debilitating and sometimes even eating right and modifying diet and lifestyle still does not work as underlying etiology is complex and multifactorial.

Age of 61 and one kidney with history of cancer, i totally agree, plenty of drugs is not a solution here. Acupuncture, acupressure and reflexology all have shown helpful in lazy bowels and constipations both according to some recent studies. So yes go ahead give it a try. But it doesn't mean you have to stop diet and lifestyle modifications like eating fibrous diet, taking plenty of water, training bowel habits and all other precautionary measures like avoiding dairy products and hard to digest products . As acupuncture alone can not help. It helps only if you follow the the protocol for preventive medicine and then add acupuncture to it.

FOllow the link regarding one study regarding such complaints. It showed benefits. So i would say there is no harm in trying it.
