Will One Gain Weight After Discontinuing Gym Workouts?

It depends on your eating habits, life style and metabolic rate.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Weight gain after sudden cessation of gym will depend on your eating habits and your lifestyle.
If you stop your exercise suddenly and eat unhealthy foods which are high in fat, sugar and salt, then yes you may gain body fat after a certain time period.
But if do lots of other frequent exercises (just say at home) and eat healthy food and keep the energy content suitable to your energy output, then you may not gain much but you will lose muscle tone gradually.
Means if you will control your diet (as per your daily need) and continue to do some exercise at home, you should be okay and will not gain much weight again.
If you are sedentary you should not eat tons of calories. You need to adjust your eating to be appropriate with your lifestyle.
You will need to lose weight by eat highly nutritious food (not starches and not sugars) like lots of non-starchy vegetables, good protein and good fats. Either you will lose weight naturally or may maintain the same wight even without gym workouts later on.
Hope this will help you.Let me know if you need any more clarifications.
